these companies. They are not ranked in any

As always, thanks to Dr. Bob..
JB, here is a Power Point presentation that Grantham
presented at their annual conference in November
with some FANTASTIC charts. The man is a very good
analyst of market history. I particularly like the
charts of quality stocks versus low quality stocks
held after market peaks as well as the number of
years it takes to generate AVERAGE returns if buying
at a peak. Very interesting.

Thanks to Dean LeBaron and Scott Reamer (Union
Tree Capital) for the excellent
essay written in 1996 about, well, money: its history,
evolution, and (then) current conditions (credit,
debt, gold, Bretton Woods, etc.). Perhaps the best
part is the history of money section though the entire
essay is splendid. With but a few changes to some
actors here or there (substitute ‘China’ for
‘Germany’), this could be republished today and be
just as relevant. Which, we suppose, speaks to the
importance of timing ...

Compliments of Dr
Bob...John, here’s a great little summary from
Comstock on historical stock returns. One statement
really struck me:
“Furthermore,
since 1903 there have been 26 different years where at
some point that year the Dow was lower than at another
point 15 or more years before. “
I’ve
re-read that a few times!
